The process of transforming your unconscious visions to conscious and controlled ones is lucid dreaming, and it is widely discussed because of its historical importance and scientific results. The vast majority can learn to lucid dream and use this skill either for fun experiences, use therapeutically or be more productive and creative.

There are different ways to learn lucid dreaming. One is dream recall because remembering them is an authentic way to take advantage of your sleep time and achieve lucid dreaming. It helps to increase your lucid dreaming experience. You can remember your dream by using any of these proven techniques.

Improve Your Sleep Quality

Your sleep routine plays a vital role in your quality sleep that lets you have dreams and a chance to remember your dreams. For quality sleep, you should adopt a proper bedtime routine, and before bedtime, you can:

  • Have light food before 3 to 4
  • Avoid alcohol or fizzy drinks
  • Take supplements
  • Switch off all gadgets at least 2 hours before
  • Take warm bath
  • Meditate and relax

Repeat a mantra before sleeping

You can repeat a specific mantra-like “Today I will have a dream and remember my dream.” Although there is no scientific proof behind this, experienced dreamers certify this technique. It trains your brain to understand that you want to remember your dreams.

Maintain a Dream Record

If you want to remember something important, you usually write it; it is valid for remembering your dreams as well. You can use a dream diary or journal to record your dreams. A dream diary should include:

  • Date and Time
  • Topic
  • Description
  • Drawing
  • Techniques used for LD
  • Location
  • Characters

Your dream diary and a pen should be placed near your bed and easily accessible when you get up after a dream. You can use your mobile or a sound recorder to record your dream.

Get Frequent Dreams

Another way to remember your dream is to dream more; if you dream more, you will have more chances to remember your dreams. You can:

  • Set the alarm to wake up from a dream and record it
  • Drink more water before sleeping; you will get up more to urinate and can recall your dream
  • Take a nap during day time to have more dreams

Don’t Come Out of Bed after Wakeup.

When you wake up from a dream, you should stay in the same position for a while and try to recall your dream as much as possible. Repeat all the dream events in your mind and after you have remembered all achievable chunks of your dream, get up and record your dream immediately.

Day Time Activity

You can recall your dreams during the daytime also; for instance, during your routine work, if something from your dream comes to mind, you should try to go to your bed and lay down in a sleeping position. It can help you to recall more about your dream.

Remembering dreams is an essential technique to practice lucid dreaming and attainable for everyone; however, you need to be dedicated and practice the mentioned techniques routinely.
